where you should've been paying attention

well, get used to that feeling.

that's how your whole life will feel some day.

this is all practice.

none of this matters.

we're just warming up.

don't ask what the world needs.

ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.

because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

if you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right

you'll probably never do much of anything

when people hear good music

it makes them homesick for something they never had

and never will have.

music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets

that startle our wonder as to who we are,

and for what, whence, and whereto.

never waste a minute of your precious life

by squandering it thinking about people you don't like.

to laugh often and much;

to win the respect of intelligent people

and the affection of children.

to leave the world a better place

to know even one life has breather easier because you have lived.

this is to have succeeded.
